New research from Carers NI and the Women's Regional Consortium examines the barriers to work for women with unpaid caring roles and how they can be addressed by government and employers.

Within Northern Ireland:

• Nearly 60% of unpaid carers are women
• More than 1 in 6 women in employment are providing unpaid care 
(approximately 71,000 women)
• Women have a 70% chance of providing care in their adult life and 
are more likely to care early in their life
